Applesauce
A simple but delicious take on applesauce that brings the freshness of the season to your table
Ingredients
- 3 pounds of apples, use a mix of types
- ½ cup water
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon cloves, allspice or ginger - you choose
Directions
- Peel, core and chop the apples into 2 inch pieces.
- Put them in a pot, add the water and turn the heat to medium high.
- Bring to a boil, stir then turn the heat to low and cover the pot.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender, about 10-15 minutes.
- At this point, most of the water will have cooked off.
- Mash the apples with a fork or potato masher to desired consistency. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water.
- Add the spices and stir well to combine. Taste and add more if desired.
- Serve warm, room temperature or cold.
